Jackie Richard Hogan, 59, of Ash, NC died Monday, October 20, 2025.
Jack was born in Columbus County, NC on August 4, 1966, and was the son of the late Thomas Bryant “Jack” Hogan and Laura Blondell King Hogan.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents Mrs. Blondell and Mr. Thomas Bryant “Jack” Hogan. Surviving are brothers Gary Hogan (Crystal) and Danny Hogan (Lana); nieces and nephews, April Hogan, Laura Burelison, Jerry Hogan and Bruce Hogan; and his former wife, Jamie Smith.
Jack was formerly married to Jamie Smith and inherited her two children: Sterlin Smith and Lindsey S. Hufham. Although they didn’t remain married, they remained close family/friends for 19 years. During those 19 years, he gained two granddaughters, Ashlynn Smith and Graelynn Hufham. Also, two special dogs “Buddy” and “Sasha”
He retired from the Cape Fear Water Authority as plant manager for 20 plus years with a dependable co-worker Darnell Brooks and a great host of Bosses Don Bets and Russell Underwood.
Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and most of all he loved to cook. Grilling was one of his specialties. He loved to cook for large groups of people, holidays and even pig-pickin’s.
Jack made many friends throughout his life and was a true friend to all. He was known to his family as “The Legend” but his nickname was “Boodle”. One of the special people in his life was his mother, Mrs. Blondell. He had the most love for his aunts, nieces and cousins with a special niece, April Hogan and cousins Lisa Hogan Barfield, Dawson King and Randy King
Jack’s Love for his family did not go unnoticed. He always wanted to laugh and enjoy life to the fullest. He loved to tell stories about past events with loved ones. Jack was a Gentle Giant who gave the best love and encouragement. Jack loved the Cape Fear River as it was a part of the outdoors that he loved so much.
