James Bartholomew Cech

James Bartholomew Cech of Sunset Beach, NC passed away Thursday January 17, 2019 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Warren, Ohio on October 27, 1947, the son of the late Bartholomew and Beatrice Cech. A graduate of John F Kennedy High School and Youngstown State University, he worked at Packard Electric/ Delphi for 34 years. He retired in January 31, 2000 and moved to Sunset Beach, NC

Jim was a well-loved man with an infectious smile. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army. He loved this country passionately. He was a high school football official for 24 years. He was an avid golfer. In retirement, he worked at Glenn Dornoch, Oyster Bay, and Sea Trail Plantation at the golf course. He enjoyed football, especially cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved baseball rooting passionately for the Cleveland Indians.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Joan (Kujala); daughters, Jennifer (Stephen) Lago of Lebanon, PA, and Jaime Cech of Longs, SC; sister, Judy Phillips of Warren, Ohio; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marybeth and Chip High of Cortland, Ohio. He has five grandchildren, Avery and Harper Wolfe, and Madelyn, Jackson, And Henry Lago, all of Lebanon, PA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter Jessica Cech.

A mass of Catholic burial will be held on Monday January 21, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that donations be made in Jim’s name to St. Brendan’s Catholic Church 5101 Ocean Hwy W, Shallotte, NC 28470; SECU Hospice House of Brunswick Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Center 955 Mercy Ln SE Bolivia, NC 28422; or John F Kennedy Catholic School 2550 Central Pkwy Warren, Ohio 44484
