James Daniel Conlon, CDR (USNR) Ret., 81, of Calabash, NC passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 surrounded by his family.

He was born in Beverly, MA on September 26, 1936 but grew up in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA. He was a graduate of Saint Ann High School, Gloucester, MA, Rider University, Lawrenceville, NJ and The National Graduate Trust School of Northwestern University. James served his country in the US Navy as a decorated Navy pilot. He served as a board member on the NY State Bankers’ Assoc., St Lawrence Rehabilitation Center in NJ, Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, Yardley, PA, the United Way, and Granville Academy in Trenton, NJ. He retired from Chase Manhattan Bank in NY. James has been a member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Shallotte for 15 years. He was a member of the Joseph J. McGarry Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Myrtle Beach, SC, American Legion, Calabash and the Elks.

James was predeceased by his parents John F. Conlon, Sr. and Rita Lynch Conlon, and a brother John F. Conlon, Jr.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 50 years, Mary; son, James D. Conlon, Jr. (Erica) of Medford, NJ, daughter Moira F. Fallon (Steven) of Sinking Spring, PA, son Brendan M. Conlon (J. Leocadia) of Reston, VA; and grandchildren, Bridget, Jonathan, Shane, Katherine, Greta, Madeleine, and Luke.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 10am with military honors at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Shallotte, NC. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 4 to 6pm at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte.

In Lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in James’ name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
