James Ivan (Toby) Babson, 79 of Ash, NC, took flight on April 8, 2024
Toby’s heavenly journey leaves a void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of selfless commitment to his family and friends will forever be remembered. James affectionately known as Toby was born May 17,1944 to Wade Whit and Amanda Stella Smith Babson. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His job titles included general foreman, and business owner. However, the title he was most proud of was Father.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Laurie Danker Babson; three children, Scottie Lee (Susie), Chris (Tiffany), and Amanda (Patrick); brother, Belton; sisters, Wilma “Jack” and Donna; four grandchildren, Brett, Tyler, Summer, and Sydnee; three great grandchildren, Jaxon, Tucker, and Brody, and a host of beloved relatives and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
He was preceded in death by brothers; Bobby Joe, Herman, Nelson, and Burtis; and sisters, Eudell Smith, Lyda Belle Coleman, and Hazel Evans.
A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, April 12, 2024 at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte Chapel, by the Rev. Jason Benton. The visitation will be at 1:30 PM prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at New Britton Baptist Church Cemetery, Ash, NC.
