Jean Elizabeth M. Cox, 86, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC died Friday, May 10, 2024.

Born in Horry County, South Carolina on July 11, 1937, a daughter of the late Arthur McQueen and Mary Pinson McQueen. She was formerly a member of the Ladies and Bridge Clubs, of Goldsboro, NC; a Master Gardener, Sunday School teacher and was active in the Autumn Care of Shallotte Activities Ministry. Jean loved her family with all her heart. She demonstrated her strong Christian faith by the examples she set in her daily life. Her “happy “place was at her beach home surrounded by beautiful flowers.

Surviving are her husband Willard T. “Bill” Cox; son Michael Cox (Gerri), of Shallotte, NC; daughters Melinda Howell (Tony), of Wilmington, NC and Rhonda Morgan, of Sunset Beach, NC; brother Arthur McQueen, Jr. (Jayne), of Spartanburg, SC; sisters Agnes Lee, of Ash, NC and Mary Brogdon (Tommy), of Loris, SC; grandchildren Matt (Tess), Meredith (Brett), Shelby (Michael) and Brian; great-grandchildren Marleigh, Thomas, Scarlett, Olivia, and one on the way Laney. The family would like to extend a special thank you to long term caregivers, Glena Moses and Linda Smith; and the ladies of Heartful Hearts In Home Care (Kysha, Shannon and Danielle.)

Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte. A burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorial may be diverted to the New Beginning Community Church, 730 Whiteville Road NW, Shallotte, NC 28470.
