Jimmie Stallings Boone, age 85,of Calabash, North Carolina, died on May 1, 2023.
He was born on June 18, 1937 in Wilson, NC, but lived most of his life in the Washington, DC area. He was the son of the late Battle Stallings Boone and Blonnie Mae Joyner Boone. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Donna Wilburn, a sister in law Jackie Southworth and a granddaughter, Ashley Dwyer.
Surviving are his wife, Jane Southworth (Dwyer) Boone, his sister Helen Finnell of Erwin, TN, a stepson Franklin Jeffrey Dwyer (Kathryn) of Huntingtown, MD, William Rodney Dwyer (Jodi) of Camden, SC, six grandchildren and five great-grandsons.
Jim graduated from Anacostia High School in Washington, DC and spent two years in the US Army. He retired in 1997 from the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC as an Electronic Mechanic. After retirement, Jim and Jane moved to Calabash, NC where they enjoyed golf, beach, travel and friends. They were members of the Seaside United Methodist Church in Sunset Beach, NC.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Seaside United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life at the church after the service. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center in Bolivia, NC or Seaside United Methodist Church in Sunset Beach, NC.
