Obituary
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Jimmy Clayton Walters, age 78 of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, who left us on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Grande Strand Medical Center Myrtle Beach, SC. Born on September 8, 1945, in Lumberton, NC, Jimmy was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and a beloved friend to many.
Raised by his grandparents in Lumberton, Jimmy developed a strong foundation of values and a deep sense of community that guided him throughout his life. He dedicated his career to the agricultural industry, working as a fertilizer salesman with esteemed companies including W.R. Grace, Royster-Clark, and Crop Production Services. His professional expertise and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Jimmy was a proud veteran of the Army Reserves, where he served with honor and commitment. His service to his country was a testament to his character and sense of duty.
Jimmy lived a life full of passion and adventure. An avid golfer, he could often be found on the course. Whether teeing off on a local course or tackling a challenging fairway, Jimmy approached each game enthusiastically and gracefully.
In addition to his love for golf, Jimmy was an enthusiastic fisherman. He found peace and joy in the tranquil moments by the water, always looking forward to the next cast and the next catch.
Traveling with his beloved wife, Rhonda was one of Jimmy’s greatest joys. Together, they explored countless destinations, creating memories and cherishing each new experience. Their travels were a testament to their deep love and companionship, and the places they visited will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Rudy Walters, Michael Walters, and Diane Walters.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Rhonda Walters of the home, one daughter, Allison Walters Dees (David) of Harkers Island, NC, and one step-daughter Whitney Stephens of Supply NC; a brother Thomas Walters (Erma) of Shallotte, NC; 4 grandchildren – Kevin Nance Parker, Elizabeth Allison Padgett (Anthony), Rilynnd Stephens, and Paisley Stephens; 1 great-grandchild – Harper Allison Padgett. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Brunswick Funeral Services, 5229 Ocean Hwy W Shallotte, NC 28470. The Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Henry Rehder officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Children's Hospital 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 in Jimmy C Walters’s honor.
