Obituary
Jo Ann B. Simmons, 84, Supply, NC, formerly of Ash died March 8, 2022. Born in Brunswick County on April 18, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Norman Bellamy and Iona Hewett Bellamy. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Oliver Simmons; sons, Jay Gould Simmons (Jody) and Norman Jesse Simmons; grandson, Elliott Simmons; and sister, Pinta Todd.
She was formerly co-owner and operator of the Holiday Drive-In and Restaurant, R. E. Bellamy & Sons Hardware, and Brunswick Cold Storage. She had served as a Brunswick County Commissioner and was a former member of the Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation Board of Directors.
Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey “Jeff” Simmons (finance Sheila Holden), Supply, NC and Jason Simmons (Cindy) Shallotte; daughter, Jo Anna Simmons, Statesville, NC; sisters, Julia Hayes, Quintina Skipper, and Bonnett Fortiscue all of Supply; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte Chapel. Burial will follow in the Jesse Oliver Simmons Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
