SFC Joel T. Gupton, 43, of Bladen County passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2021 at his home.

SFC Gupton was born on March 4, 1978 in Brunswick County, NC to Priscilla and Joseph Gupton and is preceded in death by all of his grandparents.

SFC Gupton will be missed by his many friends and family who enjoyed spending time with him. Besides his parents, he leaves behind his wife and best friend, Maria Teti Gupton and their two fur babies, Nash and Pepper; one brother, Yates Gupton and wife Beth; and mother and father-in-law, Harry and Maria Teti.

SFC Gupton was a wildlife conservationist, loved to hunt, fish and simply enjoy the outdoors.  He was a friend, educator, mentor and instructor to many who had the privilege of coming under his wing. SFC Gupton, 18 D Special Forces Medical Sergeant, served tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq and earned two Bronze Stars over his career.  Although his life was short, his impact on his family, friends and coworkers was huge. He will be remembered as a loving husband, an excellent shot, and a great friend.  “Cheers!”

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 26, 2021 in the chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte. Family will receive friends following the service.
