John Erling Meehan

John Erling Meehan

John was born in Brooklyn NY and graduated from CW Post College with a degree in Sociology.  After graduation he joined the US Department of Interior/Fish and Wildlife Service as an Inspector and later transferred to the Fish and Wildlife Service Law Enforcement Division as a Federal Law Enforcement officer.  Throughout his career, which included the position of Special Agent In Charge, he had the opportunity to travel throughout the US and Thailand, where he was part of an international team teaching crime scene investigation procedure and technique.   He loved his work enforcing US Fish and Wildlife law and always had plenty of stories to share regarding his experiences working undercover, cases he pursued, and the interesting people he met.  John was proud to have served as a part of the recovery team at the World Trade Center and the reopening of Logan Airport in Boston after September 11.

John welcomed retirement and the opportunity to play golf full time.  He was a member of Brunswick Plantation Golf, where he actively played in several leagues.  John leaves his loving wife Lorraine and dog Kula, sister Maureen Conn and husband Kenneth Conn of Ocean Isle Beach, sister Karen Montaruli and her husband Brett Montaruli of Tomball, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

Memorial Services are incomplete and will be announced shortly.

Condolences maybe sent to www.brunswickfuneralservice.com.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund in Washington, D. C.
