John Hinsdale Goodrich, Jr. of Sunset Beach N.C passed away on January 1, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Kathryn Goodrich, his son Scott Goodrich and wife Jennifer, grandchildren Courtney Goodrich and Michael Goodrich, his daughter Amy Goodrich and his sister Patricia Goodrich.

John was raised in Connecticut and Massachusetts by his parents, John Goodrich and Gertrude (House) Goodrich. He received his B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, where he met his wife Kate, and his J.D. from the College of William and Mary. There, he and Kate made many lifelong friends among his classmates. After graduating, John was deployed to Vietnam with the Army 1^st Cavalry. 

John and Kate raised their family in Connecticut and John was an attorney and partner at Gordon, Muir and Foley in Hartford, CT. John donated his time to many causes, including the Marlborough Board of Education as Chairman and the UMASS Alumni Association, for which he served as President. 

John loved to golf, play tennis and make wine with his close friends each year. He also traveled extensively to a number of National Parks and through Europe. John and Kate moved to Sunset Beach, NC and enjoyed retired life with many new friends. 

Services will be delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to Brunswick County Family Assistance or AHM Youth and Family Services.
