Obituary
John Joseph Pigott, 88, of Shallotte died peacefully March 28, 2025. He was a son of Benjamin Hobson Pigott and Lottie Mae Chadwick Pigott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Donald Pigott, Conrad Pigott, McKee Pigott, and Ruth Pigott Britt.
Joe served his country in the United States Army stationed in Korea. He was employed in 1956 by Reigelwood Pulp and Paper Company (now Federal). He was owner of Pigott Nursery in Shallotte Point where he was renowned for his ability to grow flowers. Joe was a devoted volunteer at the Shallotte Point Fire Department where he supervised flounder cooking during fundraisers.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Julian Britt; sisters-in-law, Doris Pigott and Hilda Pigott; nieces, Rita Bennett and Mary Pigott; nephews, Mac Pigott, Charles Britt and Benji Britt; and his beloved pet, Tiger.
Services will be conducted from the gravesite at 2:30 PM, Monday, April 7, 2025 in Gurganus Cemetery with The Rev. Jason Benton officiating. Casket bearers will be members of Shallotte Point Fire Department.
