John Patrick “Pat” Barber, 69, died January 11, 2017, from complications of pneumonia. He was born in Southport, NC, on March 11, 1947 a son of the late John Alexander Barber and Jewell Hewett Barber.
He was an IT director and computer programmer; a fisherman; a teller of tall tales with just an element of truth; a photographer; a gardener; and a fantastic cook.
Surviving are his loving wife, Judy Lewis Barber; sons, Jonathan Barber of Wilmington and Wayne Marshall Sessions, Jr. of Conway, SC; daughters, Joanna Long (Bobby Long) of Winnabow, Jennifer Crane (Dave Crane) of Elon, NC, and Lynn Sessions Defluneri (Rodney Delfluneri) of Chapin, SC; brothers, Mike Barber and Richard Barber both of Wilmington and Bev Barber of Hawaii; sister, Kim Cornelius of Ocean Isle Beach; his cherished granddaughter, Emily McCartney; and his amazing ninety-five year old mother-in-law, Mary Grace Lewis of Charleston, SC.
A service honoring his life will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 16, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte. Family and friends are kindly invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
