John William Goodwin, III died Friday, December 6, 2024, in Shallotte, NC.
John was born in Columbus County, NC on November 16, 1957, to John, Jr. and Carleen Goodwin.
John grew up in Columbus and Brunswick counties in North Carolina. He spent his career of 36 years in Law Enforcement, serving as a Highway Patrolman in Columbus County and as Chief of Police of Ocean Isle Beach. He was a member of the HOGS Harley Motorcycle group of Shallotte. He loved spending time with his 5 grandchildren who all knew he was the best Pop Pop. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his mother: Carleen Goodwin of Whiteville, NC; son: Tim Goodwin (Angela) of Shallotte, NC; daughter: Amy Phelps (Charles) of Holden Beach, NC; grandchildren: Sean, Macie, Kylie Goodwin, and Arabella and Jasmine Phelps.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, 5229 Ocean Hwy W Shallotte, NC. The family will receive friends briefly following the service.
