John William Maul

John William “Jack” Maul, age 87 died Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at his home in Shallotte, NC.

Jack was born in Elizabeth, NJ on November 17, 1937, to John Michael and Hester Joyce Maul.

Jack served in the United States Marine Corps. His service took him to Ankara, Turkey, as an Embassy Guard, and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion Recon Division. Jack is a lifetime member of the Embassy Guard Association.

After his service to this great nation, Jack was a District of Columbia Police Officer from 1966 to 1986. His proudest assignment was being the liaison intelligence officer to NCIS and the Secret Service, where he took part in protective security details for several events and foreign dignitaries, including Pope John Paul II, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Queen Noor of Jordan, and President Ronald Reagen.

Jack and Alice retired to Shallotte, where he loved to fish and golf. He attended the Indianapolis 500 for 25 years and would not miss a Yankees game if it was on TV or radio.

Jack is survived by his wife: Alice Marian Sciezor Maul; sons: Michael Maul (Maria) of Greensboro, NC; John Maul (Maurine) of Cary, NC; daughter: Mary Capra (Julio) of High Point, NC; sister: Mary Hester Troyer of Kokomo, IN; grandchildren: Christina Maul, Nicholas Maul (Amy), Juliana Maul, Mary Christine Maul, Anna Capra, Jack Maul and one great-grandchild: Patrick.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel 5229 Ocean Hwy W Shallotte, NC. Interment will follow in St. Brendan Catholic Church Columbarium.

Memorial Donations are requested to Lower Cape Fear Hospice 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington NC, 28401.
