Joshua Chase Parsons
Obituary
Joshua “Josh” Chase Parsons, 42, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2024. Born on January 27, 1982, in Elizabeth City, NC. Josh was a compassionate soul who found his peace and inspiration in the ocean.
Josh was predeceased by his father, Raymond “Skip” Parsons. He is survived by his adoring wife, Tara Parsons, and their beloved dog, Skipper, of North Myrtle Beach, SC; his loving mother, Nancy Parsons of Kitty Hawk, NC; his sister, Sara Clark, and her husband, Matt Clark, along with his cherished nephews, Benton and Cooper Clark, all of Cary, NC. He is also survived by extended family including his uncle, aunt and numerous cousins as well as life-long friends from his childhood, all who loved him dearly.
Josh grew up on the Outer Banks, where he learned to surf and skateboard and developed a love for living near the water. From a young age, he was a gifted artist who captured many beautiful coastal scenes in his sketches and paintings. Josh also played many seasons of baseball and was a talented pitcher. He graduated from Manteo High School and later attended College of the Albemarle and Cape Fear Community College, where he cultivated his passions. Josh found joy in working with his hands and was a skilled craftsman. He spent the early portion of his career framing homes alongside his father and later specialized in trimming and building custom staircases.
Throughout his life, Josh was an avid surfer who saw the ocean not just as a playground, but as his sanctuary. As his mother lovingly put it, “The ocean was his church.”
Though Josh kept a close circle, to know him was to love him. He had a warm, kindhearted spirit, and those fortunate enough to share in his life are forever blessed by the time they had with him.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Josh’s honor to the Surfrider Foundation, Surfing for Autism, or a charity of your choice.
Josh’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, as vast and enduring as the waves he loved.
"You’ll cherish beautiful memories forever.”
