Joyce Varro Gill-Winnie, 78, Ocean Isle Beach, NC died November 18, 2021.
Born in Summit, NJ on August 10, 1943, she was the daughter of the late George Varro and Lucille Broorujy Varro. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Peter Gill and Clifford Winnie.
She was a retired Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist having being employed by Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ. Her career at Saint Clare’s spanned over a thirty plus years . She retired in 2010 and moved to the Ocean Isle Beach area in 2013. Always community minded, She was a registrar for the Brunswick County Board of Elections and was involved with the Coat Closet at St. James the Fisherman’s Episcopal Church.
Surviving are sons, Timothy Gill (Lauri), Columbia, NJ, James Gill (Jeanne), Fairview, TN, and Matthew Winnie, Roxbury, NJ; a daughter, Jessica Priest (David), Lebanon Township, NJ; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 11:00 am in St. James, The Fisherman Episcopal Church. Burial will be at a later date in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Randolph, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Joyce’s name to National Alliance on Mental Illness at www.nami.org.
