Karen Grohsman (Mansfield), 73, passed away at home in Calabash, NC, on February 3, 2026.

Born and raised in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Ralston and Doris (Sauter) Mansfield.  

Karen married Frank Grohsman in 1976. They settled into a beautiful home they built in Vernon, NJ, where she found great joy in gardening and caring for her farm animals. In 2006, they traded the cold weather and farm life for a retirement home in Calabash, NC. Before retiring, Karen was a dedicated professional, employed by Lonza, Inc. in Fair Lawn, NJ, for over 30 years. During her career, she also earned an AA degree from Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ. 

A talented and creative person, Karen excelled at sewing, painting, and training her many pets. While she had many hobbies, her greatest joy was socializing and creating traditions, especially by hosting holiday dinners and birthday celebrations for her family. She was a longtime member of the Red Hat Society in both New Jersey and Calabash. 

Karen is survived by her husband, Frank; step-daughters, Brenda (Fred) Houghton of Moorpark, CA, and Donna (Michael) Chegwidden of Denville, NJ; grandchildren, Lauren, Leigh-Anne, Andrew, Brian, Frederick, Kevin, and Christopher; and her brother, Richard (Carol) Mansfield. She also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved pets, Lily Mae and Raja. She was predeceased by her brother, Raleigh, and her sister, Pattie Lou.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Brunswick Funeral Service, 5229 Ocean Hwy W, Shallotte, NC 28470.
