Kathy Diane Simmons, 60, of Ash, NC passed away on Saturday the 11th of May 2024.
Kathy Diane Stubbs Simmons was born on the 12th of September 1963 at Columbus Regional hospital. She was the eldest daughter of Gloria Diane Gause Stubbs and the late William Odell Stubbs. She was the first child to the couple, her siblings being Sara, Patricia, and Carolyn. Kathy graduated from Hallsboro High School in the year of 1981. She then married the love of her life Ricky Lathion Simmons of Ash, NC at Hallsboro Church of God in 1982. Kathy was a strong faithed woman who long attended Honey Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she severed for several years as a vacation bible school director, youth leader, youth Sunday school teacher and in later years she continued to serve as an active member through many programs until her illness no longer allowed. She played an important role in the childhoods of Mary Diane Brinkman Bland and Johnathan Bruce Brinkman. She gave birth to a daughter Brianna Nicole Simmons on the 20th of May 2004 and a son William Hunter Simmons on the 15th of September 2008. She was the vice-president of Simmons Logging & Trucking Inc. where she worked since the beginning of her and Ricky’s marriage. She was a strong, intelligence, loving, creative, and compassionate woman. She was the thread that held all together.
She is survived by her mother Gloria Diane Gause Stubbs, her husband Ricky Lathion Simmons, daughters Mary Diane Bland (John) and Brianna Nicole Simmons both of Ash, NC; son William Hunter Simmons, of Ash, NC; sisters Sara Mastel Simmons (Frankie), of Clarendon, NC, Patricia Lorene Mills (Richard) and Carolyn Carter (David) both of Hallsboro, NC; grandchildren Kayleigh, Gabrial, and Karrahlynn.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 11:00am in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte, NC. Burial will follow in New Britton Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the funeral home.
