Katie Elaine Bass
Obituary
Katie Bass, 67, of Sunset Beach, NC passed away September 25, 2021. Born in Bell County, Texas on November 20, 1955. She was the daughter of the late Wilmer and Helen Bass of Fairmont, NC.
To her family she was known as a strong but compassionate, tell-it-like-it-is woman. She loved her family with the same fearless attitude. She had a brave approach to everything that came her way and was a voice of wisdom to many, particularly her children. Known for her lifelong love of animals, she had one particularly wonderful dog/companion, Brody. She was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important. To say she will be greatly missed by all is an understatement.
Later in life, she built a life around helping people and serving God. Her passion was her church work at the Beach Assembly of God. She supported every ministry from children’s to seniors and was not above cleaning and handing out bulletins. For the BCRC, CRCI, and Rose House she helped with everything from fund raising to shopping for supplies. If there was a meal at the church she was there to cook and help clean up with a smile. The church could always count on her. The church and Pastor Jimmy’s friendship were a Godsend to her and her to them.
Surviving are her children, daughters, Katie Bass, New Hampshire and Angie Hunt (Jason) Wendell NC; sons, Jamie McCloskey (Christina), New Jersey and Richie McCloskey (Brooke), Philadelphia; brothers, Jimmy Bass, Fairmont NC, Mike Bass, Dillon SC, and Larry Bass, Fairmont NC. Grandchildren Savannah, Kristian, and Alex.
A celebration of life ceremony will take place October 22 – 2pm. Beach Assembly 20 Bliss Rd. NW Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469. Beach Balloon and wreath release to follow service on Ocean Isle Beach.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Katie Bass Memorial Fund (Beach Assembly of God) at https://secure.subsplash.com/ui/access/T4ZMDM
