Kevin Gerard Anderson Caprio

Kevin Gerard Anderson Caprio

Kevin Gerard Anderson Caprio passed away 6 January 2020 in Durham, NC. Kevin will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched as a family man, patriot, coach, businessman, and athlete.

Kevin met his wife Dianne of 35 years at Fort Riley, Kansas where he was serving as a US Army officer and Tank Platoon leader in the “Big Red One” First Infantry Division. After leaving active duty, Kevin and Dianne relocated to California where Kevin pursued a career as a stockbroker, including as a TV analyst, and small businessman. He was active in local politics and community affairs- especially local sports teams.

Kevin and Dianne have two children, Courtney 31 and James 29. Kevin was a devoted dad and made sure his children saw the world and appreciated the gifts they had been given. Kevin’s love of and support for severely disabled Courtney was singularly exceptional and recognized by all who knew this family.

Coach Kevin touched the lives of hundreds of young people over more than 61 years. He imbued in these kids not only a love of baseball, but also a respect for hard work, manners and civility. He passed on to them his belief that “America’s pastime” really offered just about everything anyone needed for a happy and productive life.

Kevin approached his battle with cancer as he approached life itself. His focus on the future was rock steady and his determination to press forward with as much gusto as he could muster was unyielding.

He is survived by his wife Dianne, children Courtney and Jimmy, parents, Marguerite and James Caprio, sisters, Karen Hearn and Kathi Koons, brother, Karl Anderson and multiple nieces, nephews and grand-nieces.
