Obituary
Larry Carleton Jones, 79, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC went to his heavenly home on June 12, 2024.
He was born in Sidney, NY on October 1, 1944, a son of the late Carleton L. Jones and Edna VanDusen Jones. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Russell Jones and his sister, Beverly Jones.
Beloved by family, friends and neighbors, Larry will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature and his wry smile. Larry enjoyed riding his bike through the neighborhood and stopping to chat with neighbors. He loved spending time with family, gardening, and taking care of the family pups. He was an active member of Seaside United Methodist Church and particularly enjoyed volunteering and supporting the food pantry and outreach programs.
Prior to retirement he was a Purchasing Manager in Charlotte, NC.
Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dianne Paugh Jones; sons, Scott Jones (Stephanie) of Charlotte, NC, Timothy Jones (Maryann) of Lancaster, SC and Jeffrey Jones (Nancy) of Waxhaw, NC; sisters, Marjorie Tremblay of Holden, MA, Shirley Grevemberg of Sulphur, LA, Audrey Muir of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Barbara Voorhees of St. James, NC; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 29 at 2 pm at Seaside United Methodist Church. After the service, the family will meet in the garden for a short prayer and interment. Everyone is invited to stay for the reception following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Seaside United Methodist Church, 1300 Seaside Road SW, Sunset Beach, NC 28468.
