In Loving Memory of Lawrence (Larry) Albert MacDonald

1952–2026

Larry MacDonald, 74, of Calabash, North Carolina, passed away on July 22, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with ALS.

Larry lived most of his life in Melrose, Massachusetts. After graduating from Melrose High School, he embarked on a 33-year career with Verizon (formerly New England Telephone). Following his retirement in 2004, Larry and his wife, Maureen (Moe), moved to Calabash, North Carolina, where they built their home and shared many wonderful years together. They also spent more than 10 summers at White Cliffs Country Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts, making lifelong friends and creating cherished memories with their grandchildren.

Larry was a true sports fan who spent many Sundays cheering on his beloved New England Patriots. A gifted golfer with a genuine love for the game, he spent countless hours on the fairways of Mount Hood Golf Course in Melrose, where he honed his skills and developed a lifelong passion for golf. His dedication to the sport earned him multiple club championships, as well as several couples championships alongside his beloved wife, Maureen, at both White Cliffs Country Club in Plymouth and Brunswick Plantation in Calabash.

Larry found his greatest joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with family, friends, and his beloved dogs. He enjoyed going out to dinner, taking the dogs for walks, and relaxing with a cigar around the fire pit with the guys or while out on the golf course.

Larry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Maureen Falzone; his children, Amy (Gerard) Leeman, Stacy MacDonald, and Craig (Kelly) Falzone; and his six grandchildren, Sarah Hitchman, Nick Hitchman, Kali Falzone, Talia Falzone, Adrianna Leeman, and Marissa Leeman. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Richard MacDonald, Gary MacDonald, and MaryBeth Florino. He was predeceased by his sister, Susan George; his brother, David MacDonald; and his parents, Richard J. MacDonald and Ruth M. MacDonald, as well as many extended family members, neighbors, and friends who loved him dearly.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A private service will be held at a later date in his hometown of Melrose.
