Leonard Thomas Sheppard

Pastor Leonard Thomas Sheppard, 79, Supply, NC died January 29, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimers.

Born in Washington, NC on October 14, 1941, he was a son of the late Lyman Hearlbut Sheppard and Katie Esdale Popperville Sheppard. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Don Reynolds.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired Telephone Company Engineer. After retirement, he studied at Duke University to become a local pastor for the Methodist church. During his time in the ministry, he served as Associate Pastor at Sharon UMC and Pastor for Shiloh and Kelly United Methodist Churches. He was active in the Emmaus Group, Methodist Men’s Group and the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF). He was also a member of the Rotary and Kiwanis Club. He was an avid golfer, wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.

Surviving are his wife Linda Faye White Sheppard; sons, Thomas Martin Sheppard (Lisa Johnson), Eutace, TX, and Glenn Leonard Sheppard (Melody), Greenville, NC; daughter, Lisa Sheppard Spain (Rex), Prosper, TX; brother, Lyman Sheppard (Denise), Washington, NC; sister, Hope VanDorp (Dick), Plymouth, NC.

Grandchildren, Lindsey (Bryan), Amber (Steve), Amanda (Danny), Raive (Melany Ramirez), Jack, Thomas, Molly, and Joey; great-grandchildren, London, Finley, Emma, Alex, Jacob, Sadie, Paige, Julia, and Ava Lynn; great-great grandson, Adam.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 11:30 AM in Sharon United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
