Obituary
Heaven gained an angel on October 12, 2023. Lila Ruth Whelley was born January 23, 1927, to Zadie Williams and Ruth Pigott Williams of Brunswick County North Carolina.
Lila is preceded in death by her husband, John Whelley, her parents, and all of her siblings, Henderson, James, Joyce, Milton, Legwin, Charles and Emma Jane.
Surviving are her children, Robert Wayne Yarborough and wife, Melissa, Jesse G. Yarborough and wife, Katrina, and Sandy Covington and her late husband, Rocky and Boo.
Lila loved her grandchildren, Ali Daniels, and husband, Greyson, Sarah McKenzie Yarborough and Mary Bennett Yarborough. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Lila was a resident at Arbor Landing at Ocean Isle for six years. She enjoyed her life there and was a favorite of the people who knew her as well as the people who helped care for her. Her family is grateful for the care and compassion she received at Arbor Landing.
Lila loved her Lord, bridge, friends and family. She is loved by many and will be missed by all. She was a pistol!
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, 5229 Ocean Hwy W. Shallotte, NC with Pastor Roger Carr officiating.
