Loretta Hughes Hewett, 81, of Ash, NC died Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Born in Brunswick County on December 10, 1943, Loretta was the daughter of the late Roy D. Hughes and Gertie Mae Smith Hughes. She was also preceded in death by her son, Danny Kimble “Kim” Hewett, Jr.; her brothers, Weldon, Curtis, Carlton, Luther “Tink,” Jennings “Skinner”, Melton, and Elwood; and her sisters, Merle and Lula Mae.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Danny Kimble Hewett, Sr.; her son, Scott Hewett; her grandchildren, Ryan Hewett (Jennifer) and Jake Hewett (Dorie); and her great-grandchildren, Bryson and Laney.
Loretta was known for her unwavering love for her family. She enjoyed time spent at home caring for those she loved, sharing good meals, and swapping stories that always brought a smile. Her kindness, steady presence, and quiet strength will be remembered by all who knew her.
In honoring Loretta’s wishes, services will be held privately.
