Margaret Ann “Peggy” Golden, 75, died peacefully Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Shallotte surrounded by her sisters.

Peggy was born October 14, 1942 in Conway, SC a daughter of the late Filbert Golden and Emmarine Vick Golden. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Gordon Gore and Jerry Russ and a brother, Earl Gray Golden.

Surviving are two sisters, Phyllis Golden James (Tracey) and Judy Golden Russ.

Peggy was a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews, Becky Gore, Elisabeth Gore Bingenheimer, Matthew Gore, Emily Gore, Sonja Russ Milliken, Jerald Russ and Charlotte Russ. She also loved her eleven great-nieces and nephews and nine great-great nieces and nephews.

She was a longtime member of Jennies Branch Baptist Church and a member of Longwood Baptist Church. She lived most of her life at her beloved Gause Landing.

Peggy loved Elvis, animals (particularly her dog named Shep) Sonny Jurgensen, the Redskins, UNC Tarheels, Atlanta Braves and the Shallotte Pirates. She spent many days climbing the live oaks of Gause Landing and playing red rover and jack rocks with her nieces and nephews.

After the death of her mother she attended the Brunswick Interagency Program and loved to work in the greenhouse.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, October 23, 2017 in the Jennies Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
