Marguerite Fredericka Hale

   Marguerite F. Hale, 87, of Sunset Beach , NC passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024 after a brief illness. She was born March 12,1937 in Dayton, Ohio and grew up in Springboro, Ohio. Her parents were Frank Hart and Alberta Barber Hart . Her stepmother was Madge Hart.

     Marguerite attended Springboro High School and loved being a cheerleader. She also was the Homecoming Queen. After high school, she graduated from a commercial business school in Minneapolis, MN. She then moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked with the Navy Department as a secretary. It was there that she met her future husband, Joseph Hale of Yokohama, Japan. They quickly fell in love and were married on September 7, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio.

     The couple enjoyed a wonderful life together. They were able to travel a lot to see family, friends and exotic places in the world thanks to Joe’s career with Pan American Airways. They lived in Washington D.C., Virginia, Ohio, Hawaii and Japan. They were married for 59 years until Joe passed away in Honolulu, HI in 2017. Marguerite then moved to Sunset Beach, NC with her daughter Marijo.

     She is preceded in death by her older brothers William and Frankie Hart, older sister Nancy Baker, and sisters-in-law Marylou Hart and Anna Tracy .

     She is survived by older brother Thomas Hart, 94, of Miamisburg, Ohio, as well as his children Paula Worley(Paul), Robert Hart (Sheila), and the son of her sister Nancy Baker, Donn Pedersen (Marlene). Other survivors include sisters-in -law Donna Jo Hart and Yuriko Kume, and brother-in-law Koji Ebihara, and numerous nieces and nephews including Patty Snider, Teresa Collins, Steve Hart (Sharon) ,Brenda Hart-Earhart (Eric) and many more relatives in Ohio and Japan.

     Marguerite was blessed with a large family. Her daughter Marijo Swanson (Robert) of Sunset Beach, NC, son Edward Hale of Fairfax, VA, granddaughter Rachelle Kopp (Jeff) of Wytheville, VA, grandsons Ryan Quarto (Sonia) of Bristow, VA and Shaun Quarto( Victoria) of Port St. Lucie, FL.

     She had 9 great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Hailey, Anthony, Mason, Peyton Kopp, Jamel Mosley, Leilani, Camila and Aiden Quarto.

     She also had 4 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.

   Marguerite is survived by her special friends, the Akina family in Honolulu HI.

     “Mimi” as she is known by her family was a beautiful, kind, gracious lady and was loved by everyone. Her favorite hobby was her family. She did enjoy cooking her famous panko chicken nuggets and making her delicious shrimp dip or sharing some brie and crackers and a glass of wine with her granddaughter. She also enjoyed ikebana (Japanese flower arrangements).

     There will be no local services but a celebration of life is being planned to take place in Springfield, VA in November, date TBA.

     Interment will take place in early 2025 in Yokohama, Japan, at the Foreign Cemetery. Marguerite will be reunited with her beloved Jojo who is buried there with his mother Inez Donnelly.

     In lieu of other remembrances, donations in her name to the American Cancer Society and/or The American Heart Association would be appreciated.
