Maria Di Bacco

Maria Di Bacco, 80, of Shallotte N.C., went home to be with Jesus, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at her home.

Mrs. Di Bacco was born in Italy on July 11, 1941, and daughter of the late Philippo and Guiseppina Del Sorbo.

She was the wife of Vittorio Di Bacco (deceased), and mother to Francesca Di Bacco (deceased); She is survived by four other daughters, Josephine (Rex) Hipp of Grovetown GA., Francesca (Michael) Szymanski of Buffalo NY., Jacqueline (Gary) Boehmer of Shallotte NC., and Vittoria (Kenneth Jr.) Nixon of Charlotte NC.; six grandchildren, Isabella Hipp, Kennedy Nixon, Sarah Baase, Brianna Boehmer, Vincent Nixon, and Elijah Nixon; sister, Irene (Giovanni) Papaiz (deceased), brother, Giuseppe Del Sorbo (deceased) Margarita, brother, Sabato (Angela) Del Sorbo, brother, Antonio (Roberta) Del Sorbo, brother, Bruno (Loretta) Del Sorbo, brother, Ugo (Judith) Del Sorbo, sister, Rosa (Felice) Falanga, sister, Silvana (Tracy) Dorner.

Maria gave her life to Jesus and was water baptized in her home on June 26, 2021. Maria’s passion was her family, and spending countless hours outdoors in her yard and garden, or crocheting, or in her kitchen cooking for family, friends, and strangers. She was involved at her local church with a group called “Creative Spirits,” they crocheted blankets for the homeless and scarves for Soldiers in the military. She had also adopted a young boy from India, and would send money for food, education, and medical needs.

Celebration of life service will be held at her home with close friends and family.
