Obituary
Maria “Mary” Jones, 92, went peacefully to live with the Lord at her home in Sunset Beach on Thursday, January 10, 2019 after a short illness.
She was born in Manchester, NH in 1926. She graduated from the Elliott Hospital School of Nursing and joined the Navy where she met the love of her life Charles Jones. They married in 1952 and were married for 38 years until his death in 1990. They raised their family for 35 years in Westfield, NJ.
She is survived by her four children Beth (Carlos) Sicilia, Charles (Melissa), Hope (Todd) Jones-Marthaler and Tom. She has nine grandchildren Emilio, Jasmine, Amanda, Isabelle, Tessa, Tanner, Lexi, Emma and Sam. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Calabash Presbyterian Church in Sunset Beach. In lieu of flowers, donation should be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 955 Mercy Lane SE, Bolivia, NC 28422.
