Obituary
Marion Thorsen Leonard, 84, of Shallotte, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at her home.
She was born on November 15, 1931 in Brunswick Co., a daughter of the late Henry and Claudia Gore Williams. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Olaf Walter Thorsen, Jr., two brothers, Robert Williams & William “Billy” Williams.
She retired after 20 plus years from Brunswick County Schools as a teacher’s assistant.
Surviving are her husband, Ethridge Leonard; two sons, Richard Thorsen (Nelda), and Olaf “Bud” Thorsen, III (Debbie), all of Shallotte; three daughters, Angie Smith (Tommy), of Shallotte; Barbie Oxendine (Larry), of Shallotte, and Regina Berry (Ronnie), of Lillington; step-son, Ronnie Leonard (Debbie), of Key West, FL; a special niece, Tina Stanley, of Shallotte; nine grandchildren, Becky Oxendine, Taylor Berry, Tyler Thorsen, Jessica Thorsen, Brad Smith, Candice Smith, Ashley Varnum, Stephanie Thorsen, & Allen Thorsen; five great grandchildren, Austin Thorsen, Eli Burgess, Julian Burgess, Ethan St. Jean, & Bodhi Varnum; three step-grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Williams, of Jacksonville, FL.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 22nd in the Village Point United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Richard Stone and Rev. Jason L. Benton.
Burial will follow in the Gurganus Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
