Martha "Mottie" Frances Boyd

    Martha “Mottie” Frances Boyd, 88, of Sunset Beach, NC, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at her residence.

    Born in Rock Hill, SC on October 12, 1928, Mottie was the daughter of the late Lloyd Thomas and Kathleen Dodd Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Buddy Boyd; a sister, Bette Hill; and a grandson, Billy.

    The Boyds were a charter family of St. Stevens UMC in Charlotte, NC. The first organization meeting was held on their back porch. Mottie was a caring wife, mother, grandparent, and friend to all.

    Surviving are a son, Steven Boyd of Augusta, GA; daughter, Teresa B. Cochrane (Bill) of Southern Pines, NC; grandchildren, Jason and Andrew Cochrane; and great-grandsons, Noah and Tucker Cochrane.

    A Celebration of Life will be conducted Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 2:00pm in Seaside United Methodist Church followed by inurnment in the church columbarium.

    Memorials may be directed to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physician Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 and/or The Food Pantry at Seaside United Methodist Church, 1300 Seaside Road, SW, Sunset Beach, NC 28468.
