Martin Brkal, 82, of Shallotte, NC passed away peacefully on August 22, 2021 with his loving wife, Gloria at his side.

Martin was born in Manhattan, NY on May 20, 1939 to Martin Brkal, Sr. and Susie Plesa Brkal. He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in NJ with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering and was employed as a Publications Manager for Allied Signal (Honeywell) Aerospace Company.

Martin and Gloria retired to Shallotte where he became an avid golfer and embraced the community by joining various groups and organizations such as the Men’s Golf Club of Brierwood, The Newcomers Club (SBNC), becoming a Prustee of the Elks Lodge in Calabash No. 2679, and attended St. Brendan Catholic Church. He was instrumental in running numerous golf tournaments which raised money for homeless, hospice and cancer charities.

Martin is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gloria; daughters, Elizabeth Campanella (Joseph) and Veronica Brkal-Dickson (Les); a grandson, Brandon Wojdat (Kaitlyn); a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Wojdat; a sister, Anna Piatkiewicz.

A celebration of Martin’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday August 31, 2021 in Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte Chapel.
