Mary Edwina Houston, 69, of Shallotte, NC died Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Mary was born in Brunswick County, NC on April 11, 1956, a daughter of the late May Lou Cheers and Rotha Cheers. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Jay Houston and a sister Karen Branch.
She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she was active in the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and the kitchen staff.
Surviving are her daughter, Jessica Winfree; brother-in-law Larry Branch; step-daughter Shannon Jordan (Dennis); grandson Blake Jordan; niece and nephew Wayne Branch and Heather Murray along with several cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11:00am in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 494 Mount Pisgah Road SW, Supply, NC 28462. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
Serving as pallbearers are Dean Smith, Timmy Hewett, Craven Hewett, Lindbergh Smith, Jonathan Long, Connor Gavin. Honorary pallbearers are Johnnie Smith and Larry Branch.
