Obituary
Mary Evelyn Funderburk, 80, of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, passed away February 23, 2023. She was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, on October 23, 1942, a daughter of Vernon Lee Stilwell and Kathleen Sustar Stilwell.
She was a Department Manager for a large photography company before retiring and moving to Ocean Isle Beach where she and her husband, Charles, enjoyed sitting on the porch, gathering seashells, and welcoming the Martins back in the Spring. She especially enjoyed going to lunch with her friends. She was involved with Turtle Watch at Ocean Isle Beach, and used her green thumb to grow flowers, particularly her favorites, petunias and geraniums.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Harold Stilwell and Alma Stilwell Green.
In addition to her husband of sixty-one years, Charles, she is survived by her sister Linda Sustar (Ronnie); brother, Jerry Stilwell (Jean); sister-in-law Dianne Kennedy (Jerry); numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends at Ocean Isle Beach.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
