Matthew Hollis Lynn, Jr.

Matthew Hollis Lynn, Jr., 79, of Winnsboro, SC, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, in Ash, NC with many beloved family and friends seeing him and spending time with him in his final days and hours.

Matthew, or Mack, as he was known by most, was born on March 17, 1947, in Winnsboro, SC, the son of Matthew Hollis Lynn and Mary Elizabeth Lynn (McKibben).

He graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1965, then went on to Erskine College until 1969. He enlisted in the US National Guard and remained an active member until the mid-1970s. In 1971 he earned his degree in accounting from Charleston Southern University (formerly Baptist College).

After graduation Mack worked for state and county revenue departments, and for a private accountant, before taking a job with the Holliday Family of Galivant’s Ferry, SC, as their general manager. Upon leaving that position, he worked until retirement at the Apache Family Pier & Campground.

He loved to play golf. He loved the ocean and the beach. He was social and loved to be in the company of others, usually laughing and telling jokes. He loved doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and playing card and board games of all kinds. He was fun, loving and easy to get along with.

He will be remembered by his son Matthew Hollis Lynn, III (Jhasmany Saavedra Pantoja), his brother Thomas Earl Lynn (Brenda Tripp Chilton), his nephew Thomas Earl Lynn, II (Megan) and many other beloved family and friends.

Preceding Matthew in death is wife Jane Lynn (Kramer), his mother Mary Elizabeth Lynn (McKibben) and father Matthew Hollis Lynn.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Brunswick Health & Rehab who took such loving care of Mack in his final days.

A private family service will be held to honor his memory.
