Obituary
Melvin Ray Confer, 87, of Carolina Shores died February 28, 2017.
He was born in Peru, Indiana on May 8, 1929 a son of the late William Riley Confer and Edith Townsend Confer. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Janet Murphy Confer; two granddaughters, Lindsay Jean Bennett and Lorie Rae Bennett and his beloved pet, Romeo.
Melvin retired from the New York Telephone Company and was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps.
Surviving are his two daughters, Donna Thompson and her husband John Peter “Pete” of Shallotte and Jean (Jeanie) Confer of Flagstaff, AZ and a brother Billy Gene Confer.
A celebration of life will be conducted Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by the Reverend Dr. Bob Weathers. Inurnment will take place on Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Brunswick Memorial Gardens Columbarium.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on March 5, 2017.
