Melvin Royster

Melvin Royster, age 66 of Southport passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2019 at his residence.

He was born in Granville County, NC on April 6, 1953 the son of Cora Clark Royster of Oxford, NC and the late Hubert Royster, Sr. and was preceded in death by his brother, Hubert Royster, Jr.

Mr. Royster became of member of Davis Chapel Baptist Church at a very young age. He was employed with Ford Motor Company for many years until his retirement. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Shaw University in 1975.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Rhonda Royster of the home; four children, Melvin Royster and his wife, Aneika of Wilmington, NC, Jerimaine Dion Royster of Atlanta, GA, Everett Corey Royster of Jonesboro, GA and Stella Bradow also of the home; three brothers, Allen Royster and wife, Gloria of Bullock, NC, Ellis Royster, Sr. and wife, Karen of Converse, TX, and Carl Royster and wife, Kimberly of Greensboro, NC; four sisters, Malinda Wright and husband, Melvin of Oxford, NC, Dorothy Royster also of Oxford, NC, Cora Mae Royster of Raleigh, NC, and Eloise Royster also of Oxford, NC; eleven grandchildren, Dekari, Nasir, Saniya, Madisan, King, Jamari, Cameron, Alysia, Keshon, Nakhiya, Tanjia; many nieces and nephews; his extended family, Winfred Beecham and wife, Owusua Wosornu, he was God father of their daughters, Juliana and Claudia Beecham; a special friend who was like a brother, Limuel Rawls.

Funeral services will be held eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday May 13, 2019 at Davis Chapel Baptist Church in Oxford, NC.

Burial will follow in Davis Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
