Michael George Peloquin
Obituary
Michael George Peloquin was born in Oneco, CT on November 2, 1943, and passed away on September 5, 2024, peacefully in Myrtle Beach, SC after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn Peloquin.
Michael was married to Linda Gravelin Peloquin, who passed away on July 1, 2024, just after they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Michael provided such loving care and support for his wife during her battle with multiple myeloma, and we truly believe she needed him more than us as he joined her in heaven.
Michael was a graduate of Plainfield High School, and a proud veteran of the US Air Force serving in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. Upon his discharge from the service, Michael became a driver for Moskowitz Transit located in Plainfield, CT for over 35 years and a member of the Teamsters Local 493.
Mike and Linda were residents of Wauregan, CT for over 30 years and made Calabash, NC their retirement home “at the beach” about 4 years ago. Mike found a true passion for golf, jigsaw puzzles and thrift store shopping as part of his retirement. He loved watching UCONN Husky Men’s and Women’s basketball with his wife Linda and spending time with his family.
Mike was dedicated to his family and always gave them the best life. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with all his heart and always made us laugh with his quick wit, funny faces, and sense of humor. Mike will be remembered as an amazing Pop to his grandchildren as he always supported them, gave them memorable adventures, brought them to a great breakfast place or had a funny story to tell. He was so talented in everything he did and could fix anything that broke or needed repair.
Mike was predeceased by the love of his life Linda, and is survived by his children, Michael Allan Peloquin and wife Billie of Sterling, CT, Jessica Ann Austin and husband David of Little River, SC and Jeffrey Peloquin of Danielson, CT, grandchildren, Michael Charles Peloquin, Taylor Peloquin, Christie Lessard and Jason Austin, his first great-grandchild Cooper Lessard, his sister, Barbara Schaffer, his brother-in-law Richard Gravelin of Calabash, NC, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in law, Donna and Ed Irons and sister-in-law Sheila Gravelin.
A celebration of life for both Michael and Linda Peloquin will be held on October 3, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Dougherty Brothers Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Road, Plainfield, CT 06374. A separate celebration will be held in North Carolina on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel 5229 Ocean Hwy W Shallotte, NC 28470. Following the service both Mike and Linda will be interred in the columbarium in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
