Michael “Kickin Salt” Roy Cochran, 73, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018.

The son of the late Dewey Cochran and Elva Schweckendieck, he was born on November 18, 1944 in Richmond County, NC. He was lovingly raised in Hamlet, NC, by his Aunt Pat Monteith and cousin Elma. He is also predeceased by a sister Myra.

“Kickin Salt” was a member of the Hamlet High School class of 1962. He was a conductor with more than 40 years of service with SCL and CSX railroad in Hamlet and served in the National Guard. He was a loving father and grandfather and during his kids youth he enjoyed coaching them and their friends little league baseball and football teams. He was an avid golfer, old school quail hunter, an excellent flounder fisherman, a founding member of the Anson Sausage Society (ASS club) and a gracious host to countless 5 o’clock socials at his house. Mike had a great sense of humor, a big personality and a mischievous manner that will be missed by many.

Left to cherish his memory is his partner of 12 years, Barbara Fields of Shallotte Point; wife, Delores “Dee” Cochran of Little River, SC; sons, Michael “Mickey” Cochran and wife Brucie of Ocean Isle Beach; Andy Cochran of Shallotte; daughter, Kelly Dunn and husband Lou of Cameron; Grandchildren, Candler, Abbi, Ana, Gabe, Mallory, River, Emma Jane; great grandson, Phoenix as well as his lifelong friends.

His Family will have a private Celebration of Life at Mike's house on Laurinburg Street for family and friends on Saturday, October 27 from 4-7pm.
