Obituary
Mildred Sue Dotson, 90, of Shallotte, passed away on May 5, 2025 after a short illness. For fifty-five remarkable years, she passionately owned and managed a family favorite restaurant, Dotson’s Drive-In, in Grundy, Virginia. A devoted mother, Sue faced the challenge of widowhood at a young age, yet she triumphed in raising her three daughters on her own with unwavering strength. Her love and commitment will forever resonate in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, leaving an indelible mark that speaks to her enduring legacy.
Sue moved to Shallotte nine years ago from Grundy, Virginia, where she was a member of Grundy Church of Christ.
She was born in Steele, KY, a daughter of Willie Harrison and Callie Fuller Harrison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Burton Dotson, her siblings, Virginia Hoops, Rosa Hatfield, Bruce Harrison, Darryl Harrison, and Ronnie Harrison.
Surviving are her daughters, Vicki Crabtree (Chuck), Ann Breeding (Allen), and Caroline Dotson; brothers, Jerry Harrison, Bill Harrison, Rick Harrison, and Larry Harrison; sisters, Mae Kendrick, Katy Norton, and Linda Catron; grandchildren, John, Emilee, Tyler, and Alex; seven great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild, Blake.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, visitation at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte Chapel, by The Rev. Dennis Wimmer.
Memorials may be directed to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physician’s Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
