Mitchell Edward Batten, 73, of North Myrtle Beach, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 9, 2020.

The son of the late Carlie and Elbie Tysinger Batten, he was born on March 16, 1947 in Troy, NC. Mitchell was a veteran who served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Following military service he worked as an entrepreneurial software developer and real estate broker in the Troy area before moving to the beach in 1989. Mitchell was an avid fisherman and a smooth shagger. He especially enjoyed following his grandchildren’s extracurricular activities, good food, and the latest tech gadget.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sue; daughter, April Britt (David) of Troy, NC, son, Mitchell Batten Jr. (Jennifer) of N. Myrtle Beach; daughter, Jenny Poole (Scott) of Troy, NC; grandchildren, Emily Frye (Justin) of Irmo, SC, Taylor Britt of Charlotte, NC, Jackson and Lizzie Batten of N. Myrtle Beach; Kristen Poole of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Poole of Troy, great-grandchild, Tinley Frye; sisters, Helen Lee and Toni Fish; and brother, Carlie Howard Batten.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the family is requesting that you visit our website to make your condolences. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
