Patricia Elaine Swanekamp

Patricia Elaine Swanekamp, 90, of Sunset Beach, NC and formerly of Allentown, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of December 28, 2018. Pat was born in Port Chester, NY on July 3, 1928 to Harold Johnson and Helen Foley Johnson. After her family moved to New Jersey she graduated from Cranford High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Bernard Swanekamp. They married on June 24, 1950, and she wore her wedding band continuously for 68 years of marriage.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and nothing gave her more joy than being with her family. After moving to Sunset Beach, Pat and Bernie liked to travel and play golf. She enjoyed her golf game and was a member of the Sea Trail Ladies Golf League.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her children, Elaine Hovell (Dean) of Crownsville, MD, John Swanekamp (Diane) and Robert Swanekamp (Mary Ellen) of Allentown, NJ and Thomas Swanekamp (Lee Ann) of Chapel Hill, NC; brother Paul Johnson of Stewartsville, NJ; her grandchildren, Robert, Bret, Andrew, Lauren, Christopher, Amanda, Scott and Joseph; and eleven great grandchildren.

Pat’s memory will live on in all those who will miss her and cherish her love. A private celebration of her life will be held in the near future.
