Pete Williams

John Allen “Pete” Williams II of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina passed away Sunday, February 19 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Pete was born in Denver, Colorado on July 4, 1942 to John Allen Williams and Rita Ledford Williams.

After graduating from high school, Pete attended the University of Colorado. He joined the Army and served two tours in Viet Nam. While serving in the Army for 30 years, he received a Master’s degree from Baylor University and a PhD from George Washington University. Pete’s career in health care administration in the Army moved him all around the US as well as to his most rewarding assignment in Heidelberg, Germany. Following his military retirement, he worked as a consultant and enjoyed teaching at George Washington University and Georgetown University.

Pete married Becky Schoepfle in 1989, and they lived in Springfield, Virginia. In 2006, they relocated to Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, where Pete was an active member of the Ocean Ridge Men’s Golf Association and served on the Ocean Ridge Master Association board. He and Becky enjoyed volunteering with the First Tee program and at PGA golf tournaments as laser operators.

Pete was predeceased by his father, John, mother, Rita and sister, Michelle. He is survived by his wife, Becky, children Sara Zilkha (Nathaniel), Bradley Williams, and Jordan Holt, and grandchildren Ollie, Brock, Dov, Celine, Felix, Joe and Cameron.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 27 at 1:00 pm at Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, 5229 Ocean Highway West, Shallotte, NC 28470. A reception will follow at the Ocean Ridge Plantation Club, 53 Ocean Ridge Parkway, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Code of Support Foundation.
