Phil Somers Hill, age 73, died peacefully at his home in Shallotte, NC on December 23, 2021. He was a 1966 graduate of Page High School in Greensboro, NC. He had a successful career as a Facilities Technician with AT&T and its subsidiaries for 30 years. At the time of his death, Mr. Hill was actively employed by Byers Engineering.

Mr. Hill married his beloved Claudia Spence on Valentine’s Day 2012. Mr. Hill was an avid musician who loved playing his banjos and listening to bluegrass music. He and Claudia spent much of their free time exploring the small towns of North Carolina, along with other states and Europe. Mr. Hill is survived by a very loving family, including his wife, Claudia, brother Joe Vaughn Hill and his wife Linda; sister Rebecca (Becky) Jane Doyle and her husband Larry, and sister Dawn Wyrick and her husband Raymond. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law Sharon Kimbrough and two granddaughters, Ashlynn Hill and Elizabeth Hill. In addition to his immediate family, Mr. Hill was well loved by sister-in-law, Linda Lynes and her husband Dan; brother-in-law Clyde Sullivan and two stepsons, Michael and Daniel Spence.

A Celebration of Life service for family and friends will take place at Brunswick Funeral Service on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 2:00pm. For the safety of all attendees, masks are requested. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Hill’s family has requested that donations be sent to either Brunswick Family Assistance in Shallotte or St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children.
