Raymond Arthur Roy, 76, of Sunset Beach, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long illness. Beloved husband of Sandra (Jordan) Roy.

Born in Manchester, NH. He was the son of the late Raymond and Albina (Valliere) Roy. Father of Karen Roy- Schaeffer and her husband Daryl of Oviedo, FL; son, Mark Roy and his wife Rebecca of New Durham, NH; Stepfather of Brenda (Burgess) Indelcato. He was the loving grandfather to Colin, Taylor, and Ryan Schaffer, Marina and Jacob Roy, Jake and Otto Indelcato; the brother of Joan Kunz and Geraldine (Cookie) Casma and the late Robert Roy and Lucille Zielinski.

Raymond graduated from Bishop Bradley H.S. in 1959, where he was a star quarterback and chosen to play in the Shriners Maple Bowl Classic, New Hampshire vs. Vermont Charity football game. He attended St. Mary’s University in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he continued his football career. In 1964 he received his MBA at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In 1965 He began his teaching career in various colleges throughout New Hampshire. He pursued his Doctorate degree in Greenbelt, MD from 1967 to 1972 while continuing to teach accounting and finance at the University of Maryland. He also taught at the Northeastern University in Boston, MA. In 1974 Raymond established the Teamsters Local 25 Credit Union. As president and CEO, he grew the credit union to eleven branches throughout New England. It later became the N.E. Teamsters Federal Credit Union. In 1997 upon his retirement, Raymond and Sandra moved to Sunset Beach, NC. He continued his teaching career for the next twelve years at Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, NC, where he developed the accounting program becoming the head accounting instructor.

A funeral service will be held at St. Brendan’s the Navigator Roman Catholic Church in Shallotte, NC on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10 am. A memorial mass will be said in Manchester, NH at a date to be determined.
