It is with a very heavy heart that I write to our family and friends, my sweet, sweet mother, Rebecca Ann Vidi peacefully passed the morning of August 13, 2026 at the age of 81. 

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born at Andrews AFB, MD on April 18, 1945.  She enjoyed a successful 42-year career with the Federal Government, serving the Naval Oceanographic Office and the Environmental Protection Agency. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ann Shipp, and survived by her devoted husband of almost 63 years, John D. Vidi, Sr., her son John Vidi, Jr., both of Carolina Shores NC, daughter Lisa Vidi Foster of Ocean Isle Beach NC, her grandson, Dayne Foster of Denver CO, as well as siblings, Dee (Paul) Stowe of Colorado, John and Charlie Shipp, Jr., of Mississippi, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 11:00AM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte Chapel.  Following the service, burial will be in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mom will be truly missed but never forgotten as she will continue to live on in our hearts, through the lives we lead, and the people we touch.  Be like Becky: Be kind, loving, and understanding.  She used to say… “Guilt is a wasted emotion.”  Remain positive, move forward, and most importantly, forgive.  Forgive others, forgive yourself, and love with all your might.  Leave your worries behind and just be happy.

Rest in peace, sweet Becky, until we meet again. We love you, forever and ever.
