Our precious loved one, Reverend Jerry Wayne Barnes-aka “Daddy Rabbit & Santa Claus” of Shallotte, age 67 transitioned to his heavenly home with his Lord and Savior on August 29, 2020. We, the family deeply mourn our loss and we rejoice that he is pain free and know that we will see him again!
He was born in Johnston County on July 8, 1953, the son of the late Jesse Battle Barnes and is survived by his mother Louise Bizzell Barnes of Selma, North Carolina.
He was a retired Maintenance Planner of Brunswick Nuclear Plant (Duke Energy) after 36 years of service. He was active in the PFWB Royal Rangers, and recently received awards of 20 plus years with the Royal Rangers Ministry, where he enjoyed working with young boys to inspire them to become young men of God. He was a volunteer clergy with the New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he provided comfort and counseling through the Father’s Fellowship Plantation program. He was involved in the Outreach Evangelism Explosion Ministry where he provided training and leadership skills to witness the gospel and win souls to Christ. His greatest love was his wife, children, grandchildren and family.
