Richard David Eisenman

Richard David Eisenman passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at his residence.

Born December 20, 1929 in Bridgeport Connecticut to Herman and Nina M. (Doerries) Eisenman.

He graduated from Bassick High School in 1948. Attended the University of Bridgeport. Was a graduate of the University Of Michigan School Of Banking, Ann Harbor. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict 1950-1953 served overseas. After 25 years of banking in Connecticut and New York State, he entered into municipal Government and retired as Chief Harbormaster for Falmouth and Woods Hole Vape Cod, Massachusetts. In 1989, he relocated to Shallotte, North Carolina, with his wife Shirley, the former Shirley Waggoner. In retirement, he devoted his time to historical and Military Interest. Past Commander American Legion Post 247 Shallotte, Past Senior Vice Commander VFW Post 11275, Shallotte. Past President Wilmington Council Navy League of the United States. Past President and Director of Moores Creek Battleground Association. Past President and Member emeritus Lower Carpe Fear Chapter Sons of the American Revolution. Past Vice President and Director Wilmington Harbor Enhancement Trust. Vice President Brunswick County Lodge #53 Fraternal of Police. Served on Wilmington Salvation Army Advisory Board for many years. Co-Chairman of the North Carolina Port Authority Maritime Day Festival. A 55 year member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and holder of the Legion of Merit Award. A 50 year member of Harford Argyle Lodge 508 F.A. & M New York. Member of Brunswick County Historical Society.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Lisa and Patricia; son, James; and grandson, Dustin.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Mary of Juniper, Florida; granddaughter, Brittnay of Juniper, Florida; grandson, Richard of Bacliff, TX, Amy Brown of Conway, SC and 5 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 30, 2017 in the chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service. Inurnment will follow in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to any organization mentioned in the above obituary.
