Obituary
Richard (Dick) Joseph Pillion, 81, of Carolina Shores, NC passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 after battling lung cancer. He was the loving son of the late Cornelius and Helen (Kasiski) Pillion, and brother to William (Pidge) Pillion. He was born in Morristown, NJ and resided in Hanover Township, NJ and Madison Borough, NJ before retiring in Brunswick Township, NC. Dick is survived by his wife, Linda, and their
children: Tommy, Brian, Amy, Bill, Michelle and Melissa as well as thirteen grandchildren.
While Dick had a successful career in the HVAC industry, he will be remembered as one who shared his talents and passions with family, friends and his community. He was a talented musician who played the accordion, which led to forming a band, The Four Sounds, with three close friends. His talent was showcased on live television and shared at special family events and other celebrations. Additionally, he was a multi-sport athlete at Hanover Park High School and later excelled in baseball at Morris Harvey College in West Virginia. Due to these positive experiences, he dedicated his personal time to coaching youth football teams in Hanover Township, NJ. Dick was passionate about sports, and he will fondly be remembered as a positive role model and mentor to all he coached.
In his retirement years, Dick and Linda enjoyed traveling, golfing and making new friends. He was an animated storyteller, and those who knew him loved him for his warmth and sense of humor. He regularly spent time at the Calabash Elks Club and the Crow Creek Golf Club where he will be remembered for his kind-hearted nature and passion for golf. Dick celebrated and lived life to its fullest and is loved and missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 10:00AM on Monday, January 17, 2022 at Saint Brendan The Navigator Catholic Church in Shallotte, NC.
